There are different kind of flowers that we come across in our life, but we hardly know their names or what they look like. Vibrant-colored, eye-catching flowers that have a specific meaning and they are significant in their own way. Here is the sequel of the easy and useful flower list that will help you learn the flowers by their name:

Hypericum:

Hypericum is a genus of 400 flowering plants that can be found all over the world in a variety of habitats. They are grown as annuals, perennials, shrubs, and small trees. They can be deciduous or evergreen. The foliage is a lush dark green. It is a highly resistant plant as it can withstand up to -10 degrees Celsius. It has traditionally been associated with inspiration and cheerfulness. The colors of its berries range from the usual green and red all the way to ivory, pink, peach, orange, burgundy, and black, allowing it to complement all sorts of flowers, especially during the fall and winter holidays. Hypericum is growing as ornamental plant because they are hardy and easy to grow. They can be planted in the sun or shade, as long as it has well-drained soil. While hypericums can grow in any soil condition, they do best in a slightly acid soil. Evergreen species would be ideal as shrub borders or container plants. The low-growing varieties would do well in rock gardens or as ground cover. The flowers are undoubtedly beautiful, but the berries are more popular in the cut flower industry. Their clusters of ornamental berries are commonly used as fillers. Florists use hypericum berries to add a burst of color and texture to bouquets, centerpieces and other flower arrangements. They are available all year round,
but tend to be especially popular during the winter season.

Liatris:

Liatris is a summer-blooming perennial with grassy foliage and bottle-brush flowers in lavender, purple and white color. Commonly known as blazing star, this North American wildflower makes an attractive addition to flower gardens, landscaped areas and informal plantings. The distinctive flower spikes stand 60 cm to 1.20 meters tall and are magnets for butterflies.

Liatris are tough plants, but if the weather is dry, the newly-planted corms should be watered weekly until they have established a strong root system. As with all bulbs, avoid over-watering.  After the first couple months, will need little to no attention. The plants are relatively drought tolerant, naturally pest and disease resistant.

Limonium:

Limonium flowers holds over 120 flower species and is popular in North America, Europe, Asia, Australia and Africa. It is also known as sea lavender or marsh-rosemary and statice. This plant appears delicate, but is actually quite tolerant. Each stem has a spray of flowers that contain several small clusters of tiny blooms. They produce small flowers 4-10 mm long in pink and purple color but can also be found in white or yellow. It’s perfect for filling a centerpiece, bouquet or other floral arrangements. It is a great enhancement to flower beds as well. Limonium is also an easy and beautiful flower to dry out, since it retains its color for a long time.

They reach a typical height of 70 cm and add purple and lavender tones to gardens.

Choose an area with a full sun. Don’t be afraid of wind harming these plants, they can tolerate it. They can also easily tolerate coastal area conditions.

The best season to plant limonium is in spring in order to watch it blossom till late summer or early fall.

Proteas:

Proteas are evergreen trees and shrubs and they are native to South Africa and Australia. South Africans love this flower so much that they use it as the national symbol of their country as well as the name of their cricket team!

Proteas are an exotic looking flower, and known for their distinctive bulb shape and many have fluffy petal which vary in color from pinks to reds. They are a low maintenance plants and are easy to take care of whether you’re planting them in your garden or simply enjoying them freshly cut.

Proteas need an open, sunny, well-ventilated position and acidic soil that is gravelly or sandy. Propagation is from seed, cuttings, or grafting; the hybrid cultivars are usually propagated from cuttings. For best results, plant them in fall or spring, and allow plenty of space between plants for air to circulate.

This plant can live in a variety of soils, well-drained. Water weekly when it is first planted and in the summer when there is no rain.

Stephanotis:

Stephanotis is an extremely popular evergreen flower among brides as used often in decorating a bridal bouquet. They are native to Africa and grown for their strongly perfumed flowers. The most well-known of the Stephanotis genus is the Madagascar Jasmine (Stephanotis floribunda). Stephanotis has striking dark glossy green foliage and waxy, tubular, usually white flowers and grown for their strong, elegant perfume. It has a woody vine-like stem, and like ivy is a climbing flower, but unlike ivy it is a tropical plant.  The flowering plants can grow up to 3 meters tall.

You should plant stephanotis near a tree or something that the flowers can climb. This will encourage growth and help you get the best of the plant. The plant requires a high level of humidity and thrives in a summer temperature of around 21 degrees Celsius, while in the winter it should be kept between 13 and 15 degrees C. It will tolerate a low of 10 degrees. The plant should not be subjected to any sudden changes in temperature, or it will die.

Viburnum:

Viburnum is an attractive and useful evergreen shrub. It is probably one of the most resistant plants available. Usually it is used as a plant bark, like a shrub, but also as a ball-forming tree. It grows fast and with the proper pruning you can give it the shape you want. Plant them as specimens, hedges, or in a mixed border. They prefer rich, evenly moist, slightly acid soil and generally flower best in full sun.

Wax:

Hoya carnosa or wax plant originates from Asia and Oceania and is mainly used as decorative. Wax is a flowering shrub that has multiple blooms per stem, and is star-shaped. These romantic, long lasting blooms symbolize lasting success and have been used in wedding bouquets and centerpieces as a sign of lasting love and patience.
